Upon seeing the opponent's slap, Awenasa's eyes turned cold as she fiercely kicked him away!
Boom!
Awenasa's kick was intercepted by a snow-white palm, which was held in front of the middle-aged man.
"Awenasa is truly the most exceptional member of the Bishop Family in my generation. After this, your eldest brother may be bedridden for half a year." The woman beside the old man appeared in front of the middle-aged man, effortlessly blocking Awenasa's kick, and said with a smile.
The middle-aged man sat on the ground, glaring at Awenasa with resentment.
Awenasa glanced at her eldest brother Busby on the ground, then turned to the woman and calmly asked, "I'm not here for idle talk. Where is the money?"
"You wretch! You dare to use the Bishop Family's funds to save yourself!" Busby shouted at Awenasa as he stood up.
The woman glanced at Busby and commanded, "Shut up."
Busby's expression shifted at the woman's gaze. He clenched his teeth, lowered his head, and muttered, "I understand, Aunt Firenze."
At that moment, the old man playing chess nearby turned to Awenasa with a gentle smile and asked, "Where is my grandson? Why didn't you bring him?"
Upon hearing this, Awenasa, who usually maintained a stern demeanor, paled. She looked at the old man with a hint of fear and pleaded, "I will go to the Cooper Family as you instructed. Is that acceptable?"
The old man chuckled and shook his head, "What are you saying? I just want to see my grandson."
Awenasa's face instantly drained of color at his words. She bit her lip, bowed down, and knelt, "Please, spare my daughter. I am willing to comply with your plans, just let Mirte go."
The old man's expression turned icy as he gazed at Awenasa kneeling before him with indifference. He uttered, "You are the pride of the Bishop Family, but you are also shameless... that's all!"
Seemingly sighing, the old man turned to Busby and instructed, "Retrieve my grandson. Our facility can provide the necessary medical treatment, so why waste money elsewhere?"
Busby's face lit up with joy. He shot a bitter glance at Awenasa, then turned and departed.
"No, I refuse!"
Awenasa suddenly raised her voice in excitement.
"What, defying your father's command?" The old man's tone chilled as he observed Awenasa attempting to rise.
Awenasa froze, gritted her teeth, shut her eyes, and knelt back down. At that moment, she prayed that Busby would not locate Mirte.
But with the resources of the Bishop Family...
She dared not entertain that thought.
She lifted her head, tears glistening, and faced the old man with a determined gaze, asking, "Why did you break your promise to me?"
The old man, holding black and white chess pieces, glanced at the board. In response to Awenasa's accusation, he casually replied, "Because you trampled on my turf, my daughter."
Awenasa's body tensed, her hands gripping the grass beneath her.
...
"Mid Capital Nursing Home?"
Jedrek observed the grand building nestled amidst nature, reading the vertical sign.
"Proof of identity, please."
The guard scrutinized the SUV parked by the entrance.
Viet, behind the wheel, met the guard's gaze without a mask, a fierce glint in his eyes.
Jedrek placed a reassuring hand on Viet's shoulder, then rolled down the car window, stating, "I'm here to see Awenasa."
The guard, taken aback, studied Jedrek and inquired, "Are you here for Ms. Bishop? And who might you be?"
Jedrek paused before asking, "I'm curious, who runs this place?"
The guard, surprised, responded, "You seek Ms. Bishop but seem unaware that this is the Bishop Family's estate. Who are you?"
The mention of the Bishop Family triggered Jedrek's memories of betrayal, leading to his separation from his daughter for five years. Despite the turmoil, he now had to reclaim his love.
When the guard mentioned the Bishop Family, Jedrek's mood soured.
Yet Awenasa was still part of that family.
Regardless of his past grievances, he, now a king in his own right, viewed the current Bishop Family as insignificant. He harbored no grudge.
However...
"I should have let go of my animosity, but you mistreated my wife!" Jedrek recalled Awenasa's desperate plea on the phone and his resolve hardened.
"What's going on..."
"I am Awenasa's spouse."
Jedrek stated calmly to the bewildered guard.
The guard, in disbelief, stammered, "You, no, you're with Ms. Bishop, how is this possible!"
In haste, the guard retreated, radioing for assistance, "We have a man claiming to be Ms. Bishop's husband at the entrance..."
The news reached the old man engrossed in his chess game.
He frowned, glanced at Awenasa, then smirked, "It's likely the Cooper family's son. His claim as Awenasa's husband is ridiculous!"
The woman smiled at Awenasa with mockery in her eyes and said, "You can't say that. Awenasa married into the Cooper Family to be that fool's concubine, and she might also have to serve the second young master. Let's talk about my husband, it’s not an exaggeration."
Awenasa's teeth were tense, and the corners of her mouth were already bleeding.
The old man remained calm, "Let him in, after all, the Cooper Family is powerful now, let's see how rampant this junior is."
"Master loves to joke, how dare I act so presumptuously in front of you." The woman smiled charmingly, then said to the phone, "Please come in, Mr. Cooper, and don't stop me."
Awenasa closed her eyes and slowly flattened her clenched hands. Blood flowed from her fingertips, but she ignored it and calmed down in such a strange way.
Jedrek's car drove in at the door, but he looked ahead with unkind eyes. What did he hear just now? Did the man call himself Mr. Cooper?
Jedrek chuckled.
Viet, who was driving in front, felt very cold and unsteady.
A few minutes later, Jedrek looked at the situation in the distance with slightly focused eyes.
The green grass was blown by the breeze. Next to the ancient golden wood chess table, an immortal old man was playing chess with a white hand in one hand and a black hand in the other. Next to the old man, a graceful and beautiful woman was pouring tea for him.
What a beautiful and artistic picture!
However, Jedrek only saw Awenasa kneeling there, with dirt and blood on her fingertips!
The old man was playing chess, his immortal style very free and easy. But the next second, he threw down the chess pieces, straightened up, and his face turned ugly.
The beautiful woman poured the tea and smiled slightly. However, her gentle smile disappeared, replaced by a strange and gloomy sneer, with a frosty look on her face.
The change between the two was natural as the car carrying Ms. Bishop’s husband drove onto the grass!
Poof!
In the silence, Awenasa smiled brightly.
But in the eyes of the old man and the beautiful woman, it was full of irony.
