"You want me to be Faithe's bodyguard?" The assassin stared at Rachit in disbelief, eyes widening, and said, "Aren't you afraid I might take the opportunity to get rid of her?"
"Do you dare?" Rachit was raising an eyebrow and asked.
"You know, Faithe's life is worth 1,000,000 dollars. Though it might not be much in the eyes of the wealthy, it's enough to make many people take risks, right?"
"Others might, but not you," Rachit shook his head.
"Why not?"
"Because you are the king of speed in the night."
"How does that have anything to do with whether I would take risks or not?" The assassin was puzzled and asked.
"It does because Ratty is a man of his word."
The assassin was shaken. He was asking in surprise, "You know me?"
"Of course," Rachit smirked, saying, "If I didn't understand your character, do you think you'd still be standing here talking to me?"
"Who are you exactly?"
"Does it matter who I am?"
"Then what does matter?"
"Being alive is what matters most. Even though you may face death calmly, I think if given the choice, you wouldn't refuse to live."
"I have to admit, you understand me."
"I not only understand you, but I also understand many others."
"Who else?"
"For example, the top twenty assassins on the assassin list. I know them all."
"How is that possible?" Ratty widened his eyes, looking incredulous.
"I've said it before, nothing is impossible in this world. Right now, you need to consider whether you want to accept my offer, rather than dwell on these things," Rachit said calmly.
After three minutes of contemplation, Ratty took a deep breath and said, "I can be Faithe's bodyguard, but only for a year. After a year, you give me back my freedom."
"Three years!"
After a brief pause, Ratty gritted his teeth and said, "Fine, three years it is, but you have to pay me 100,000 dollars each year."
"For those kids?"
"You even know about that?" Ratty was astonished and asked.
"I've told you, I know a lot," Rachit shrugged, saying, "If it wasn't for the fact that you became an assassin to support those twenty-plus children you adopted, do you think I would spare you today?"
At this point, Ratty was not just astonished, but also a bit fearful. It was clear he now believed that Rachit not only understood him but also knew about the top twenty assassins on the list.
Who exactly was this Rachit?
Someone who could understand them to this extent must have a vast intelligence network behind them!
"Don't dwell on who I am. You've made a cheerful decision to become Faithe's bodyguard," Rachit said, leading Ratty back to Faithe's side.
Looking at Ratty behind Rachit, Faithe's gaze was cold. After all, facing a killer who had targeted her, no one could be happy.
Even though she appeared cold, Faithe's charm had not diminished in the slightest. That was just who she was.
"I've found you a bodyguard," Rachit said with a smile to Faithe.
"Why did you find me a bodyguard?" Faithe was puzzled and asked.
"You must have ticked someone off to have a hit placed on you in the dark web, buying your life. If you fail this time, assassins will keep coming for you, so you better get yourself a bodyguard."
"You're not gonna tell me that he's the bodyguard you hired, right?" Faithe pouted at Ratty.
"It's him!"
"He's the assassin who tried to kill me. And you trust him?" Faithe frowned.
"I trust him." Rachit nodded.
Faithe gave Rachit a deep look and said, "Since you trust him, I'll trust him too. From now on, he's my bodyguard."
Faithe's trust in Rachit was quite inexplicable.
Rachit was about to explain, but now it seemed unnecessary.
"Do you trust me like that?" Rachit asked in confusion.
"Of course." Faithe smiled flirtatiously at Rachit.
Rachit shuddered at this, feeling an inexplicable heat rising within him.
This enchantress was quite something!
Faithe blinked and asked, "Do you have a crush on me?"
"Uh... no."
"Then why are you helping me?"
"I just thought since I saved you today, might as well do a good deed!"
"Is that the only reason?"
"Is there supposed to be another reason?"
"Do you not have any feelings for me at all?"
"Uh..."
"What does 'uh' mean?" Faithe suddenly stepped forward, almost pressing against Rachit.
"Uh... my wife is waiting for me at home, so I better not talk much. Maybe we can chat some other time."
Rachit awkwardly ran off with that.
"Haha... this guy is quite interesting." Watching Rachit's retreating figure, Faithe couldn't help but laugh.
Everyone's been gossiping that the son-in-law picked up by Diana is a fool, but now it seems that rumor is way off.
"He's not a fool. If he's a fool, then everyone in the world is a fool." Ratty suddenly spoke up.
"You know him well?" Faithe squinted and asked.
"I don't know him, but he knows me, and he understands our world of assassins. There's something about him that we can't see, so he's not a fool."
"Haha... but almost everyone in the city mocks him."
"That's because those people are the real fools."
"That's true!"
"Ms. Peck, from today onwards, I'm your bodyguard. Don't worry, my presence won't disturb your life; I'll only appear when you're in danger."
"Not disturbing me, yet appearing when I'm in danger? How is that possible?" Faithe was puzzled and asked.
"Nothing's impossible, because I come from the night,” Ratty said calmly.
With those words, he vanished into the darkness, leaving Faithe looking around, unable to find him.
Glancing at her Ferrari, now wrecked, Faithe sighed deeply and hailed a taxi by the roadside.
As the taxi drove off, Rachit emerged from behind a large tree by the road, watching the departing taxi, murmuring to himself, "Nine Spirit Body, cold bloodline... Is this fate?"
Encountering two rare Nine Spirit Body, was this lucky or unlucky?
The other Nine Spirit Body was his wife, Diana. The reason he had endured countless sneers from Eartha over the past year yet hadn't left the Cyrus family was that was his destiny.
Though both Faithe and Diana were Nine Spirit Body. There was a difference. Faithe's bloodline could consume Rachit's masculine energy.
If an ordinary man were to be intimate with a woman with such a bloodline. He might freeze to death in bed.
This was why he had chosen to flee in the face of this woman's temptation.
Of course, only Rachit could control this cold bloodline, but it required him to break through to the Void Realm.
It was difficult and would take time.
