Back at the Cyrus family's place, as soon as he stepped through the door, Rachit saw Eartha's elongated face.
Eartha glanced at Rachit, and disdainfully snorted, "Useless man!"
This kind of scene had been happening every day for the past year, and Rachit had gotten used to it. He just shrugged, ignored the inexplicable mother-in-law, and walked straight into the living room.
"Brother-in-law, you're back?" Sitting cross-legged on the sofa, Erin warmly greeted him with a sweet smile and shallow dimples. Her hair was tied up in a bun She was looking cute.
With a pair of big watery eyes, wearing jeans, showcasing a pair of perfectly long legs. Although she still looked a bit skinny overall, she had just graduated from high school. She was still young.
Rachit believed that once his little sister-in-law grew up, she would be as stunning as her sister, a breathtaking beauty.
Sitting next to Erin, Diana just glanced up, nodded slightly, and then lowered her head to flip through a magazine. She always maintained that indifferent demeanor.
Of course, this wasn't directed at Rachit specifically. Diana had this attitude towards anyone. Rachit had already gotten used to it.
"I'm back!" Rachit nodded towards his little sister-in-law.
"Ah... Brother-in-law, you can speak now?" Erin asked in surprise.
Diana also looked up at Rachit, displaying a hint of surprise on her usually indifferent face.
Rachit smiled and said, "Well... I can speak now. It's been a year of not being able to speak, and it drove me crazy."
"A year? Brother-in-law, are you saying you could speak a year ago?" Erin asked in confusion.
"Well..." Rachit smiled. He glanced at Diana, and said, "Your sister found me three days before I lost my voice. It's been exactly a year now."
"How did you lose your voice?" Erin curiously asked.
"It was all thanks to that damn old man," Rachit said indignantly.
"Old man? What old man?"
"Ah... let's not talk about him, it annoys me just thinking about him," Rachit waved his hand, and changed the subject, asking, "Erin, have you received your university acceptance letter?"
"It's here!"
"Which university?"
"The Economics Department at our University of the Zintech CIty."
"I remember your dream was to become a singer, and you have a great voice. Why didn't you apply to the music academy?" Rachit asked, somewhat puzzled.
"This past year, after my sister took over the company, I saw how hard she worked every day. I wanted to help her, so I chose to study Economics at the University of the Zintech CIty."
Hearing her sister's words, Diana's usually indifferent face finally showed a hint of warmth. As if she wanted to say something, but her lips moved slightly, and the words never came out.
"Erin has grown up too," Rachit said with satisfaction.
"I've already grown up, okay?" Erin rolled her eyes.
"Hehe..."
"You guys chat, I'm going upstairs." After closing her magazine and setting it aside, Diana greeted them and went straight upstairs.
Watching her walk away, Erin blinked at Rachit, curiously asking, "Brother-in-law, it's been a year already, and you still haven't won over my sister?"
"You're just a kid, what do you know?" Rachit rolled his eyes.
"Tch... I've told you, I'm not a kid anymore."
"Hehe... No matter how old you get, in my eyes, you're always a kid." Rachit patted Erin's head.
"Sigh... I thought getting into university would make me an adult, but it seems in the eyes of you people, I'll always be a kid. It's so frustrating."
"Hehe..."
"Oh, by the way, brother-in-law, I start school in a few days. Will you accompany me to the school for registration?"
"Of course!" Rachit readily agreed. Whether it was just accompanying Erin for registration or any request from this little sister-in-law, he would always agree without hesitation.
After chatting with Erin for a while, Rachit returned to his room, just as Diana came out of the bathroom.
In that instant, Rachit's eyes widened.
When Rachit looked straight at Diana, her face showed no joy, no anger, no sadness. It seemed like Rachit wasn't looking at her but at a completely unrelated woman.
With a casual glance at Rachit, Diana calmly said, "You're having a nosebleed again."
Why 'again'?
Well, over the past year, this scene has played out countless times. Every time Rachit sees Diana's hidden side, even a spirited young man like him ends up with a nosebleed. Any man who witnesses this unknown side of the icy goddess Diana would likely react the same way.
Rachit felt fortunate that only he could see this side of Diana.
"If you want it, I can give it to you," Diana said expressionlessly.
She felt that marrying Rachit was her decision alone, never seeking his opinion at the time. She felt she owed him, so giving him this was a form of repayment.
Since nothing mattered anymore, why care about this?
"If I can't have your heart, then what's the use of having you?" Rachit shook his head.
"It's difficult to win my heart," Diana said nonchalantly, looking devoid of desire. Her heart was dead, and she believed it would never open to anyone again, not even her nominal husband.
"I believe in myself," Rachit asserted confidently.
Men often think with their lower half, and Rachit was no exception. If another beauty said such words to him, he would not hesitate to pursue her. But with Diana, he wouldn't.
On one hand, after a year together, he genuinely grew fond of his wife whom he had saved, and didn't want to hurt her. On the other hand, Diana possessed the Nine Spirit Body while he had the Masculine Body. If one of them wasn't fully committed to such matters, their unique constitutions could potentially devour each other, leading to a disastrous outcome.
Rachit wouldn't allow that to happen. So, even if he desired Diana, he had to completely conquer her heart. Only then could they avoid consuming each other and reap immense benefits.
At that moment, Diana stared at Rachit, her thoughts unclear.
After a while, she walked to the bedside, took out a bank card from the nightstand, and handed it to Rachit.
"What's this for?" Rachit asked, puzzled.
"Take it. Don't hold back in the future," Diana said calmly.
"What do you mean?"
"I heard that the women at the Private Enjoyment Club are of high quality and it's safe."
In an instant, Rachit's eyes widened. What did his wife mean by this?
Was she giving him money to pick up girls?
Was this considered as following the order to flirt with other girls?
