Before long, the door of the store opened, and a young man stepped out.
The young man glanced at Skulker. "Didn't you see the notice? My master isn't seeing patients."
"I saw it. I know Dr. Parker isn't seeing patients!"
Skulker replied, waving to Seraphia.
Seraphia hurried over and handed the appointment card to the young man.
"I have Dr. Parker's appointment card here," she said politely.
Skulker quickly chimed in, "With this appointment card, Dr. Parker should see patients, right?"
Suddenly, the young man chuckled. "I've been studying medicine at the Rejuvenation Medical Center for five years, and it's the first time I've heard of an appointment card!"
"Look, this card even has Dr. Parker's name on it!"
Skulker pointed to the appointment card in Seraphia's hand.
The young man took the appointment card from Seraphia, looked at it, and then tossed it directly to Skulker, much to Skulker's displeasure.
"Hey, why did you throw it away?" Skulker protested.
"It's fake, why wouldn't I throw it away?" the young man reiterated.
"Rejuvenation Medical Center doesn't have appointment cards. My master treats everyone equally, regardless of their status. So, this card is fake!"
Skulker, holding the appointment card, looked bewildered. "That's impossible. I paid fifty thousand for this appointment card!"
"You've been deceived!" the young man stated matter-of-factly, about to close the door.
Skulker grabbed the young man. "No, this card is real. You're trying to deceive me!"
"You!"
The young man grew somewhat annoyed. "Fake is fake. Whoever deceived you, go find them!"
At this point, Seraphia also understood the situation and sternly reprimanded Skulker, "Enough! Is it not embarrassing enough?"
Skulker, deflated, said weakly, "Aunt, I... I didn't know this card was fake!"
Seraphia turned to the young man with a sincere expression. "Could you please inform Dr. Parker? My husband really can't make it another month!"
The young man sighed in resignation. "My master won't see patients, and my words won't change anything."
"Try finding another doctor!" he suggested before preparing to close the door.
"Wait!"
At that moment, Ravager, who had remained silent, spoke up.
Liora, Seraphia, and Skulker looked at him, surprised.
Ravager, calmly and confidently, addressed the young man, "Just tell Dr. Parker that Ravager is here."
Though visibly confused, the young man nodded at Ravager and closed the door.
As the door closed, Liora looked at Ravager and asked, "Do you know Dr. Parker?"
Ravager smiled faintly. "I'm not sure if it's the same person."
Hearing their conversation, Skulker looked disdainful. "Who does he think he is? Know Dr. Parker? Ridiculous!"
"If he really knows Dr. Parker, I'll eat my hat!"
Creak.
As Skulker finished speaking, the store's door opened, and an elderly man with white hair stepped out.
The old man's gaze swept over the crowd, finally settling on Ravager.
"Ravager, it's really you!"
The old man dashed straight toward Ravager.
In front of everyone's astonished gaze, the two big men hugged each other.
Liora, Seraphia, Skulker, and the young man were all gaping in shock.
"Dr. Parker, long time no see!" Ravager grinned.
Vorax released Ravager and smiled back. "Indeed, it's been a while. How could you bear leaving the army to come find me?"
"I retired!"
"What?"
Vorax was astonished. "Ravager, don't kid with me. You're the King of Soldiers! How could you retire?"
Ravager chuckled wryly. "It's a long story."
"Do you have a job now? If not, you can come help me!" Vorax immediately extended the invitation.
This surprised Liora once again. Who exactly was this Ravager?
He seemed to be acquainted with both Necris and Dr. Parker, and both invited him to work after learning he had retired.
"Thank you for the offer, Dr. Parker!"
Ravager bowed slightly, then gestured to Liora. "This is my boss. We actually have a favor to ask of Dr. Parker today."
"What favor? No need to stand on ceremony with me!"
"If it weren't for you risking your life to protect me back then, where would I be now?"
"I was practically at death's door, and you pulled me back!"
Vorax reminisced, his eyes, filled with wrinkles, becoming slightly moist.
"I only did what I had to do," Ravager replied modestly, then pointed at Liora. "My boss's father is critically ill and wants you to see him. But it seems you're researching medicine and won't see anyone for a month, so... I wanted to ask for your help."
"Every doctor has a compassionate heart. What doctor wouldn't see patients?" Vorax sighed.
"Western medicine has been causing a fuss lately, insisting on challenging me. They want to hold some competition between traditional medicine and Western medicine. You know my temperament. Healing the sick and saving lives, that's what I should do!"
"Competing in medical skills, in the end, it's not about saving lives. It's just a contest of winning or losing!"
"How would it matter?"
"So, to avoid unnecessary trouble, I came up with this solution!"
Ravager nodded thoughtfully. Knowing Vorax as he did, he wasn't the kind of doctor who turned a blind eye to the sick and dying.
It seemed there had been a misunderstanding before.
"Enough talk!"
Vorax turned to the young man and commanded, "Get my medical kit!"
"What are you waiting for? Let's go see the patient!"
The medical kit was quickly brought out, but the Maserati was only designed for four people.
When they arrived, it was fine, but now there were five people.
Normally, five people could squeeze in, but with Vorax holding the medical kit, there was definitely no room.
Liora had been silent the whole time. Dr. Parker had to go, and Seraphia naturally had to go with him.
Now it was up to Ravager and Skulker to make way.
Originally, Ravager thought to give up his seat since he was just Liora's bodyguard.
But when Vorax saw Ravager still standing outside, he quickly waved him over. "Ravager, sit next to me. Let's catch up!"
Now, Seraphia and Skulker dared not say anything, afraid of angering Dr. Parker, lest he refuse to treat the patient again.
There was no choice but for Skulker to grit his teeth and say, "Aunt, Liora, you take Dr. Parker home to see your father first. I'll take a cab and follow later!"
Without a word, Liora floored the gas pedal, and the Maserati shot off like a streak of light.
The tires, in violent friction with the road, kicked up small gravel from the surface.
The flying gravel happened to hit Skulker's face as he stood behind the car.
Feeling the stinging pain on his face, Skulker felt even more aggrieved.
This time, not only had he lost face, but he had also been overshadowed by that guy.
"I won't let you get away with this!"
Skulker firmly etched Ravager's name into his mind.
The young man glanced at Skulker. "Didn't you see the notice? My master isn't seeing patients."
