Leila, at the age of twenty-seven, a top graduate from a prestigious university, had her life perfectly set up when she parachuted into the family business five years ago, becoming the CEO of Jorkeyn Group, a company valued at hundreds of billions. She instantly became the Queen of Blackhills.
However, due to her ruthless tactics and willingness to do anything to achieve her goals, her reputation in the Blackhills business community was extremely poor.
Yet, this ice-cold woman, who wouldn't even indulge her own father, was completely broken down by Titus.
Once agitated, she lost all filters on her speech.
The demon lady of Blackhills City offering to perform a strip-tease for a man she just met?
That was too…tempting to watch.
"Although we are husband and wife, and it's not illegal for you to dance for me, I'm a slow warmer. If you're too aggressive, I'll feel offended," Titus pondered for a moment before asking. "Can you do the Tiktok Dance?"
Whoosh!
Leila pressed the accelerator to the floor, completely losing control of her emotions.
After achieving his purpose, Titus withdrew his magic powers and looked out at the skyscrapers outside the window.
It had been ten years, and the city where he had lived for eighteen years felt so unfamiliar.
During those years, Titus lived at the bottom of society, attended the most ordinary schools, and no one ever told him that at the top of the city's pyramid, a woman who had been radiant since childhood and pampered like a princess was actually his fiancée.
If he had known earlier, he would never have allowed his student self to start begging from every Wednesday.
Leila gradually slowed down the car, her palms slightly sweaty from speeding.
Glancing at Titus, she noticed he was not at all flustered, even lost in thought.
"What are your plans?" Leila asked indifferently.
"Can you not be so impatient? I've said it before, there's plenty of time," Titus replied with a pout. "Besides, use your brain a bit. If I easily help your brother get the ticket, and he excitedly acknowledges me as his brother-in-law, wouldn't a divorce be even more troublesome?"
"I'm asking about your work plans," Leila frowned.
But hearing Titus's explanation, she found it somewhat reasonable, albeit a bit harsh.
"I have no plans. I decided to let everything go since the day I retired," Titus shrugged.
Leila's eyes flashed with disdain. Both coming from the Northern Savage Army, Jorge served the country and became famous worldwide. In contrast, you didn't make a name for yourself in the military and decided to let everything go upon retirement.
"Grandma says a man should have his own career," Leila said with disgust. "If you want to start a business, the Hodges family will provide you with start-up capital."
If it weren't for Sophia's instructions before she left, Leila wouldn't bother about Titus's life or death.
Moreover, Sophia didn't even mention starting a business, she directly suggested that he join Jorkeyn Group.
Leila really wanted to keep her distance from this bastard who couldn't say anything nice, which was the real reason behind her suggestions.
"Starting a business requires ambition, the ability to endure hardship, and a spirit willing to fight," Titus shook his head. "I can't start a business, nor can I let the old lady see any good qualities in me."
Leila took a deep breath of cold air, unable to refute.
"Then I'll recommend some companies for you to interview with," Leila said coldly.
"Are you deaf?" Titus got a bit angry. "I've said I don't want to start a business, I don't want to work. I've dedicated my most precious ten years to the country, can't I enjoy life now?"
Leila clenched her teeth, struggling to control her emotions. "Come to my company, choose any position, and you don't have to work. If you want to come to work, come, if not, take leave. No one will care."
It's better to not let this troublemaker out to cause trouble for others.
Titus hummed, reluctantly agreeing, "It's only because it's you. If it were anyone else forcing me to work, I'd directly turn hostile."
Leila's expression flickered, almost causing her internal injuries.
The luxury car drove at a snail's pace through the bustling business center, where countless skyscrapers and billboards mourned General Jorge, showing high respect for this national hero.
Jorge's origins from Blackhills also made this coastal financial hub a city of heroes, where the citizens shared in the glory.
Titus looked around, feeling worse the more he saw.
All Leila saw was the tragic news of her lifesaver's death in battle, which heavily weighed on her mood.
"If it's convenient, get me a ticket too," Leila said in a low voice.
She didn't wait for Titus to ridicule and directly said, "General Jorge saved me."
"Oh," Titus pressed down the car window and lit a cigarette, speaking lazily. "He saved many people. Do you think he would remember you?"
"It's not important," Leila shook her head lightly, seemingly trying to dispel the heaviness in her heart and changing the subject. "Do you want to make our relationship public?"
"Why do you ask?" Titus raised an eyebrow.
"Going public would make it easier for you to slack off, and no one would dare to control you," Leila stated bluntly. "I don't like lying, nor do I want to pretend when I see you at the company."
"You're so noble, so amazing!" Titus glared at Leila. "You're young and wealthy, even if you were divorced and remarried, there would still be plenty of men chasing after you. What about me? Once it's public, who would want a matrilocal son-in-law kicked out of a wealthy family? Do you want me to be lonely for the rest of my life?"
"Then we won't go public," Leila said, pretending to be light-hearted.
Although it sounded easy, going public would also be a huge burden for her.
"Did you breathe a sigh of relief?" Titus seemed to see through Leila's heart, teasingly said.
Leila hummed indifferently, "Just say what job you want, I'll arrange it, and you can start today."
"Just arrange any vice president position, preferably one with power to embezzle funds," Titus said lightly.
"What do you want to do?" Leila frowned.
"Of course, to squander," Titus stated matter-of-factly. "The longer I work, the more the company loses. Over time, won't the old lady be anxious? All that nonsense about keeping promises, anyone who dares to shout such slogans hasn't been cut to the bone yet!"
