Inside the ward, Alex Ye's father was already awake. Alex Ye approached with a basin of water and said, "Dad, you're awake. Here, let me help you wash up."
"I'll do it!" Lily Lin swiftly took the towel from Alex Ye's hand, expertly wet it in the water, then wrung it out and carefully wiped his father's face.
"Thank you!" Alex Ye felt a bit dazed and didn't know what to do. His father also kept thanking Lily Lin. He had never experienced such meticulous care in the hospital before. In the past, when he was sick, the nurses and doctors would look at him with disdain and disgust. None of them would be as proactive as the young nurse before him, helping him wash his face with care.
It wasn’t easy to find such gentle, considerate girl who respects elders nowadays. Considering Alex Ye still didn't have a girlfriend, if he could win over this young nurse, it would be wonderful. With this thought in mind, his father raised an eyebrow at Alex Ye and made a motion with his lips. Alex Ye understood his father's meaning and couldn't help but smile in helplessness.
"All done!" Lily Lin said. "Have you two had breakfast yet? There's a cafeteria in the hospital where you can buy breakfast. Grandpa, what would you like? I'll go get it for you." While she was speaking to his father, her eyes subtly glanced at Alex Ye.
His father happily chuckled and asked, "Such a kind child. Miss, no need for anything, I usually don't eat anything in the morning."
"That won't do. Skipping breakfast is bad for your stomach," Lily Lin said. "How about this? I'll go get you some congee and steamed buns." Then she looked at Alex Ye and asked, "And you? What would you like?"
Before Alex Ye could speak, his father hurriedly shot him a meaningful look. Alex Ye understood and sighed in resignation. "I'll go with you," he said.
Lily Lin glanced at Alex Ye and sweetly smiled.
After the two of them left the ward, his father watched Lily Lin's figure and sighed, "What a good child. If only she were my daughter-in-law."
"Thank you for last night," Alex Ye said after they left the ward, handing the doctor's coat to Lily Lin.
Lily Lin smiled gently and then said seriously, "No need to be polite. From now on, no more drinking in the hospital. Besides, grandpa still has injuries, and you shouldn't let him drink."
Alex Ye was taken aback for a moment, then obediently replied, "There won't be a next time, I promise."
Lily Lin seemed quite satisfied with Alex Ye's response and continued, "I'm Lily Lin, and you?"
"Alex Ye."
"Oh!" Lily Lin didn't know how to continue the conversation, but just lightly responded. Alex Ye did not have a proper relationship before. Most of the women he encountered were either women of the world, or frank female mercenaries and assassins. Now, facing such a pure and kind-hearted girl, he was a bit at a loss for words.
Just at that moment, Alex Ye's phone rang, breaking the awkward silence. "Sorry, I need to take this call," he said, taking out his phone and answering it. After hearing the voice on the other end, he hesitated for a moment, then responded before hanging up.
Seeing Alex Ye struggle to find the right words, Lily Lin said, "Is something wrong? If you need to go, please do. I'll take care of grandpa."
Alex Ye was honest and said, "Thank you. I'll be back soon. I appreciate your help."
"No need to be polite. Take care of your own matters. Don’t need to worry about grandpa," Lily Lin said.
Lily Lin was originally working on night shifts, and it should be time for her to go off duty. After a night without sleep, she was actually a bit tired, but she still decided to help Alex Ye take care of his father for a bit. Watching him leave, Lily Lin stood there in a daze, not knowing what to think.
"Hey? Lily, why haven't you gone off duty yet?" a female nurse walked over, noticing Lily Lin's puzzled expression. When she saw Lily Lin's eyes on Alex Ye as he left, the nurse smirked knowingly and said, "Oh, our Lily is in love. Who is he? He must be a talented young man to catch Lily's eye."
"You're just talking nonsense. It's you who's acting all smitten," Lily Lin blushed and retorted. "I won't talk to you anymore. I'm going to the cafeteria."
Alex Ye hadn't expected to receive news about the thug who had injured his father so quickly. He couldn't help but admire the bartender, Little Dragon Girl. The call he just received was from her, and she had provided him with the address of the thug, David Zeng. He had initially planned to invite Alex Ye to dinner and dancing, but Alex Ye had just responded with a few "yeah"s and hung up. This made her feel quite uncomfortable. However, she knew that Alex Ye would eventually have to give her the remaining payment, so they would inevitably meet again. With this in mind, she smiled flirtatiously into the phone and said, "Hmph, I’m certain I can win you over."
She wasn't worried that Alex Ye wouldn't give her the remaining payment. It was an unwritten rule in their circle. Nobody would want to cause trouble for themselves by not paying. Just like when Alex Ye worked as a mercenary, he would receive a down payment before taking on a mission, and the rest would be paid after the job was completed. There had never been a case of a client refusing to pay the remainder, because no one wanted to invite trouble.
At the entrance of Moneyful Garden, Alex Ye stopped. According to Little Dragon Girl, the thug David Zeng lived in Building C on the sixth floor. He smirked faintly, then continued walking inside.
"What are you here for?" When he reached the door, the security guard on duty in the guard booth asked.
"Looking for someone," Alex Ye replied.
"Who?"
"David Zeng, lives in Building C on the sixth floor." The thug's name was something Little Dragon Girl had found out. Alex Ye answered.
The security guard stared at Alex Ye for a while, as if trying to discern something from his expression, but Alex Ye's face remained calm the whole time. The guard handed him a pen and said, "Leave your signature."
Alex Ye didn't object and scribbled a name and an ID number, neither of which had been verified. It was all just a formality. The security guard glanced briefly, then opened the door and let Alex Ye in.
When he arrived at Building C, Alex Ye looked up and happened to see a fat figure embracing a petite woman on the balcony. The petite woman was only wearing her underwear and bra, while the fat man was casually draped in a robe. The petite woman was currently crouched in front of the fat man, her head moving back and forth incessantly. Without looking, Alex Ye knew what they were doing.
