As Alex Ye entered the ward, he noticed some fruits and gifts on the bedside table. Being curious, he couldn't help but ask about it. That's when he learned that David Zeng, the man who had injured his father, had just visited and apologized in front of his father. He had also compensated for his father's medical and nutrition expenses. Alex Ye nodded slightly. He wasn't an unreasonable person. While David Zeng was at fault, he had shown remorse and made amends. Alex Ye's intention in confronting David Zeng was mainly to seek justice for his father. As for the compensation, he wasn't too concerned. Since David Zeng had sincerely come to apologize, Alex Ye didn't want to pursue it further. Besides, his father was on the side, constantly urging Alex Ye to let it go. Alex Ye knew his father was worried he might get into trouble, so he agreed. His father was already old and shouldn't have to worry about him.
After spending some time chatting with his father in the hospital, Alex Ye prepared to find a job to temporarily stabilize his situation. With a steady job, his father could rest assured. As he drove the impounded Honda Fit out of the hospital's entrance, a group of people blocked his way. Alex Ye gave them a casual glance. They were the thugs from the theft ring he had injured yesterday. There were at least thirty of them. Alex Ye smiled faintly. It seemed they had come to seek revenge.
Whilst opening the car door, Alex Ye stepped out and glanced at them, calmly saying, "What's this? You've prepared the money in such a short amount of time?"
The leader, Kevin Li, who had been injured by Alex Ye the day before, glared at him with hatred, waving his hand and commanding, "Beat him to a pulp!"
Alex Ye let out a cold laugh. It seemed he had been too lenient yesterday. These people didn't seem to know pain. They were a bunch who wouldn't quit until they were thoroughly beaten. Watching the group brandishing steel pipes and knives, Alex Ye shook his head helplessly. It seemed that the best way to deal with these people was to use force in return. If he didn't beat them into submission all at once, it seemed they wouldn't stop. With this in mind, Alex Ye no longer hesitated and moved forward to meet them.
When Kevin Li saw that not only was Alex Ye not the least bit afraid, but he even took the initiative to approach, he couldn't help but be surprised. He thought, could this kid have absolutely no fear of death?
For a mercenary who constantly risked their life, Alex Ye truly wasn't afraid of death. Moreover, these small-time thugs in front of him didn't have the ability to put him in mortal danger. Among the Wolf Fang Mercenaries, Alex Ye's skills were among the best. Even soldiers who had retired from the M Country's Navy SEALs and the E Country's Arctic Bear Special Forces wouldn't last long against him. Not to mention these small-time thugs who hadn't experienced the baptism of bloodshed, and who lacked formal training.
Alex Ye moved like a fierce tiger descending the mountain, agile and swift. Cries of pain filled the air. Those who approached Alex Ye either had their arms broken or ribs fractured, falling to the ground without any ability to fight back. It was only now that Kevin Li understood why Alex Ye remained so calm and composed when facing so many people. It turned out he was confident and didn't consider them a threat at all. Kevin Li was scared. He began to doubt whether his actions this time were right or wrong.
Before long, all the small-time thugs Kevin Li had called were knocked down by Alex Ye. They lay on the ground, groaning in pain. Alex Ye's lips curled up slightly, and he picked up a machete from the ground, slowly walking towards Kevin Li.
"Demon!" The word involuntarily flashed through Kevin Li's mind. He couldn't think of any other word besides "demon" to describe Alex Ye. He didn't realize that Alex Ye's smile was anything but friendly. It was the smile of a demon. The overwhelming sense of fear made Kevin Li unable to move. Though he was considered someone in the underworld, he was just a fringe figure at best. He couldn't compare to those real underworld figures. Normally, he could bully some honest people with a bit of influence, but in front of Alex Ye, this terrifying presence, he could only feel fear.
"Don't come any closer!" Kevin Li said nervously.
Alex Ye smiled faintly, revealing his signature sinister grin. He calmly said, "Yesterday, I told you to bring the money to redeem the car. Did you ignore me?"
Kevin Li couldn't believe that Alex Ye's smile was a sign of goodwill. It was clearly the smile of a demon. Overwhelmed by fear, Kevin Li's legs gave way, and he fell to his knees with a thud. He slapped himself in the face while pleading, "Big brother, it's my fault. I was blind and didn't recognize Mount Tai. Please spare my wretched life. I'll give you the money, I'll give it to you right away."
"You must have a death wish. You could have given me the money earlier and avoided all this," Alex Ye sneered. "But since you came to seek revenge, I think I should at least collect some interest, don't you think?"
Seeing Alex Ye's sinister smile, Kevin Li was terrified. He couldn't even muster the courage to move. He now just wanted to be as far away from this demon as possible. After hearing Alex Ye's words, Kevin Li repeatedly said, "Big brother, I won't dare anymore. I won't dare to do this again. I promise I'll give you the money tomorrow."
Satisfied, Alex Ye nodded and said, "Very well, I'll be waiting for you." With that, Alex Ye turned and walked back to his car, starting it up and speeding away. Since it wasn't his own car, he drove at 170 kilometres per hour, disregarding traffic lights.
Driving aimlessly on the street, he happened to pass by the entrance of a company and noticed a recruitment notice posted outside. It read: "Hiring: One security guard, male, aged 20 to 30, veterans preferred, monthly salary between 1400 to 1600 yuan."
"Security guard, that doesn't sound like a bad job," Alex Ye murmured to himself. He smiled faintly and parked the car on the side of the road before walking in. After all, he was here to apply for a security guard position. He couldn't just drive in, otherwise people might mistake him for a monster.
