chapter 3 Is it really a coincidence?

"Mila Shen! Katherine's Chinese name is Mila Shen?" Edwin's eyes flickered with surprise.

"Do you have a picture of Katherine?"

"No, HJ Group keeps Katherine under tight wraps. I've tried various channels, but I couldn't find any photos of her. It's said she's a very beautiful woman."

Tom couldn't fathom that a worldwide sensation in car design was, in fact, a woman, and an exceptionally beautiful one at that. It just didn't make sense. What woman would have such an interest in cars?

Edwin didn't respond to Tom's musing. He stared at the name "Mila Shen" on the information for a long while. His eyes were slightly narrowed, concealing his emotions, but his fingers tapped rhythmically on the table, creating an unusual tension in the room.

"Mr. Ye..."

"Let's make arrangements. I'll pick her up personally."

Edwin finally spoke, his eyes gleaming with a peculiar intensity.

Mila Shen! The name was an exact match. Could this be a mere coincidence?

No one found Mila's body in the fire five years ago. The police claimed the blaze was too fierce, potentially reducing her remains to ashes. But Edwin never truly believed Mila was gone.

Now, this Katherine goes by the name Mila!

He couldn't wait to meet this designer.

Tom was momentarily dumbfounded. After all, in the past five years, very few individuals had prompted Edwin to fetch them personally. Yet, the surprise only lasted a second before he promptly organized everything.

As the car arrived at the airport, Mila's flight had just landed.

Mila wheeled her suitcase out of the security checkpoint. Her long wavy brown hair, well-proportioned figure, and striking facial features immediately drew everyone's gaze. The little boy following her was dressed in white casual clothes, his skin soft and his long lashes fluttering. He sported a cap reversed on his head. With a lollipop in his mouth, he followed Mila at a leisurely pace. He seemed nonchalant, but his striking phoenix-like eyes deterred anyone from approaching.

"Mattew Shen, this is Han City, not the United States. Put away that haughty expression and stick close to me."

Mila felt both exasperated and a touch heartbroken at her son's demeanor. Mattew's mannerisms were becoming more like Edwin's. Sometimes she had to concede the power of genetics. But she wished her son took after her a bit more.

"Mommy, what did I do?"

Mattew innocently shrugged, mischief twinkling in his eyes.

Mila chuckled, shaking her head. She extended her finger and tapped his forehead gently. "Don't try to act all innocent with a face like that. You're my son. Do you think I don't know your tricks? I'm warning you, while you're here in Han City, you'd better behave. Do you hear me?"

"Okay, I'll be a good boy. You go back to work, Mommy, and I'll explore the place where you grew up. I promise, Mommy, no mischief. After all, I'm your son! Why treat me like an enemy?"

Mattew pouted in protest.

Mila affectionately patted his head. "No need to be sly. I just want to remind you. Let's leave the airport first. I'll call Aunt Lan later, and we'll stay at her place for a few days."

"Alright."

Mattew beamed like an angel and walked hand-in-hand with Mila towards the exit.

Suddenly, Mattew spotted a familiar figure. The person bore a resemblance to him, exuding an air of indifference even from a distance. This must be Edwin, right? The legendary father?

Mattew sneakily glanced at Mila. Seeing that she was about to make a call, he suddenly clutched his stomach.

"Oops, Mommy, my tummy hurts. I need to use the restroom!"

When Mila heard her son's cry, she looked up to find Mattew clutching his stomach, his face red, and his legs crossed as if he couldn't hold it in any longer.

"Mommy will go with you."

With that, Mila moved to pick up Mattew, but he darted away.

"No, Mommy, I can't hold it. Just wait for me outside. I'll be back in a minute."

With a burst of speed that rivaled a 100-meter sprint, Mattew dashed out.

Seeing him go, Mila shook her head in fond exasperation and started making phone calls at random.

"Luna, it's Mila. I'm back."

Luna Lan was Mila's best friend back in Han City. They hadn't lost contact over the past five years. Luna was now a kindergarten teacher and was overjoyed to hear about Mila's return.

"When did you get back? I applied for leave to pick you up. Are you at the airport?"

Luna's enthusiasm was palpable.

"No need to pick me up. I'm bringing Mattew back. I'll take a taxi to your place later."

Mila said as she walked, but she didn't see anyone in front of her and bumped into them.

"Sorry, I didn't see you."

Mila raised her head to apologize but froze the moment her eyes met the stranger's.

It was him! Edwin! This is truly a case of unexpected encounters in life!
