chapter 9 Met a master

by Beverly 15:53,Sep 14,2023
Edwin recalled that he and that little rascal were the only two people in the airport restroom. He couldn't believe a child of four or five could pull off such a stunt on him. But apart from that kid, who else might know about this? Could there have been someone else in a cubicle he wasn't aware of? Edwin's brows knitted together tightly.

Tom felt the suffocating anger in the office and couldn't help but unbutton his shirt as if it might ease his discomfort. Suddenly, Edwin spoke.

"Did you pick up Katherine?"

He had gone to the airport specifically for Katherine but ended up not picking anyone up. Since he didn't know what she looked like, he'd instructed Tom to hold a sign. Unfortunately, no one came to them.

Seeing Edwin shift the topic, Tom quickly responded, "The word from the United States is that Katherine has arrived. Maybe we were late, or she wasn't on that flight. Mr. Ye, this designer Katherine is quite haughty. After all, she's just a designer. You've already honored her by personally picking her up. And now she's stood you up. It's just..."

"Quick, get that video deleted for me. If I see it online in five minutes, you might as well start shopping for a nice cemetery plot, consider it my gift to you. Get out!"

Edwin abruptly cut him off, his entire demeanor dark.

Five minutes? Who knows what Trojan horse program that hacker implanted? There's no way they could've cracked it that quickly. He might be meeting an untimely end.

After Tom hastily left the office, Edwin promptly switched on his computer. He discovered the company's security system had been entirely compromised, leaving the whole system paralyzed. Who was behind this? Who wanted to punish him so severely? Edwin's frown deepened as he began typing on the keyboard. Lines of code flashed across the screen, rapidly breaking through the initial defenses.

To avoid seeing that old woman, Luna, Mattew locked himself in his room, turned on the computer, and watched as the YH Group's security crumbled, a faint smirk on his face. This time, the Trojan Horse program seemed formidable to Edwin. Suddenly, his screen flashed, and the first firewall breached. Mattew's brows furrowed instantly. So, the YH Group still had computer experts. Mattew swiftly placed his small hands on the keyboard and continued torrenting. Edwin tracked down the culprit's location. "Whoever you are, I'm going to find you today!" Edwin hadn't been this furious in a long time, nor had he personally dealt with such a matter in ages. The hacker was undeniably skilled, but in his view, still a tad inexperienced.

When Mattew realized his screen was completely frozen, he knew he'd been targeted. Uh-oh! He'd encountered a master! He tried to exit, but now the entire screen was beyond his control. What to do? They absolutely couldn't expose their location! Mattew had an idea and swiftly connected an external adapter to the computer. The computer beeped, the Trojan horse program was fully decrypted, and the hacker successfully locked onto his IP address. Edwin scrutinized the IP address before him, his frown deepening even more.

"Tom, come in!" Tom heard Edwin's call and hurried in.

"Yes, Mr. Ye."

"Find out where this IP address leads."

Edwin tossed his finding to Tom. Tom was stunned when he saw it. "What's wrong?"

"Mr. Ye, this IP address is linked to the Ye family's old residence," Tom reported, visibly shaken.

"What did you say?" Edwin's face instantly darkened, creating a palpably tense atmosphere. Tom broke into a cold sweat. "It's true, Mr. Ye. This is the address of the Ye family's old residence. I installed the IP there."

Edwin's eyes darkened a bit. The hacker was sly. It appeared an external device had been installed at the last moment, transferring the IP address. But this person was so familiar with him and the Ye family. Who could they be? If it was an enemy, this was dire!

"Find out for me! By any means necessary, I want to trace the source of that video and gather all the details about this hacker!"

"Absolutely!" Tom felt the weight of the task on his shoulders and quickly departed.

Mattew slumped into the chair, seemingly drained. It seemed his old man wasn't a pushover. Just now, he'd come dangerously close to being exposed. He'd have to be more careful in the future.

"Mattew, let's go out for a meal." Mila knocked on Mattew's door. Startled, Mattew swiftly closed the computer window, then opened a game interface, and said lazily, "I know, I'll be there in a minute."

As he opened the door, Mila's gaze swept in. Upon seeing the game screen on the computer, she shook her head slightly. "How many times have I told you to stop playing games? And you'll need to apologize to Aunt Lan later, do you understand?" Mattew's brows knitted again. Apologize to that old woman? Was she out of her mind?
